Steve Sabins

Steve Sabins

Executive Director

Steve has been in the Utah assisted living industry since 1998 when Bel Aire built its first facility. He has a bachelors degree in financial planning & counseling, and an MBA in finance. He is passionate about Assisted Living Industry and loves to raise the standards high for everyone involved.

 

Steve loves to serve in many leadership roles. He is currently serving as the president of the Utah Assisted Living Association (UALA), and is also serving second of two four year terms on the governor appointed State of Utah Health Facility Committee.

He is also a member and past-president of the Provo Rotary Club affiliated with Rotary International.

Whenever he is not working,Steve loves to spend time with his family and cook Sunday dinners for them, run triathlons whenever he can, play basketball and read good books. He is originally from Southern California and he & his wife have seven children.

Two things you would be surprised to know about him is that he is a former Stake President and he loves dark chocolate.

Kristina Law

Director of Marketing & Sales

Marketing ideas are her second nature, because she loves speed, success and innovation. She can implement a comprehensive online marketing strategy to achieve a synergy proven by sales. She is also good at finding an “edge” for the product or the company that will stand out.

She loves to socialize with others and loves to make others laugh. When people come to tour Bel Aire, she loves to spend time with them and learn more about them and their family.

Kristina is super talented when it comes to anything visual. She can spot things that can be improved on any website within minutes. She can create a vision of a better looking site with a big picture in mind.

Whenever she is not working with a client, she loves to spend time together with her family doing fun things. She also loves horses, Great Danes and swimming. Her favorite recipe ingredient is dark chocolate.

One thing you would be surprised to know about her is that she was born in Slovakia, Europe and came to the U.S. when she was 21.

 

Sherry Hornbuckle

Sherry Hornbuckle

Director of Care

Sherry loves working in the health care field and enjoys the special relationships she able to develop with her patients, residents and their families. She is focused on providing excellent care for all residents because it really matters to her that everyone feels loved and cared for while at Bel Aire Senior Living.

She has been a Home Health and Hospice CNA since 2008 and has been the Care Coordinator/Med Tech for Bel Aire Senior Living since 2009. She has been serving as Bel Aire’s Director of Care since 2014.

She brings a beautiful attitude and radiant smile to all who meet her. Everyone loves to be around her and work with her.

Whenever she is not working with a client, she enjoys cooking, spending time in the countryside and entertaining friends and family. Sherry was born and raised in Redondo Beach, Ca.  She has two children and three grandchildren.

One thing you would be surprised to know about her is that she and her husband enjoy spending their free time traveling the countryside on their Harley and she loves sushi.

John Freeze

Accounting

John Freeze has 10 years of experience as the CFO of psychiatric hospitals in Missouri, Indiana and Utah. He was the CFO of 2 large retirement communities in Indiana for over 16 years.

He helped with the planning and implementation of the construction of a new 105 bed skilled nursing facility at one community and participated in the planning of a major renovation of the other community’s buildings.

He and his wife Ann moved to Utah in 2010 and they have two daughters and one grandson. They love to spend as much time as possible with their grandson, Frank who is almost 4 years old. Ann teaches Special Education in American Fork.

 

Marissa Barnard

Receptionist & Marketing Assistant

Marissa loves working at Bel Aire and getting to know the senior living business from the marketing side. Along with working on marketing she has come to love the staff and resident here. She describes it as her second family.

Marissa is currently earning her Bachelor’s degree at BYU for business management and a Fashion Industry certificate through Parsons and Teen Vogue to put towards her Fashion Empire.

One thing she loves is to travel. When she has the chance she travels along with her family to orphanages in South America to serve for a week or so. Her parents always taught the importance of serving others.

Whenever Marissa is not working you can find her taking pictures at Antelope Island or working on her international fashion empire.

One thing you would be surprised to know about Marissa is that her and her sisters have danced hula for 5 years and competed in competitions in Southern California.

McKenna Burr

McKenna Burr

Care Coordinator

McKenna loves working with the whole team here at Bel Aire. She has volunteered many times at Assisted Living Facilities playing games and other activities with the residents. She loves building relationships with each of them and learning about their lives.

She loves to create interesting content for our blog that tells the story of Bel Aire Senior Living. She also loves to come up with creative marketing ideas to promote our business.

McKenna has also been married for a little over a year and loves going on adventures with her husband. She is currently attending Utah Valley University and studying Psychology.

Whenever she is not working, she loves to be outdoors and be with her family. McKenna is originally from Aurora, Colorado. She is the youngest of 4 children in her family.

One thing you would be surprised to know about her is that on her second date with her husband they went skydiving.

Food Services Manager

Montana has been working in the health care and mental health field since 2008. He is originally from sunny Arizona, but now he calls UT his home. He is responsible for the overall operations for the back of kitchen area of Bel Aire Senior Living. He especially enjoys the challenges and rewards that come with caring for those who can no longer care for themselves.

Montana  has a passion for food. He loves cooking meals and understands how “comfort food” can help our residents feel right at home. As our Food Services Manager, he is responsible for continuously upholding outstanding food quality and lead and motivate the kitchen team to provide the best home cooked meals that are healthy and nutritious at the same time.

Whenever Montana is not working, he enjoys being outdoors. He enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and anything that takes him into the mountains. He enjoys spending time at home with his wife and four sons.

One thing you would be surprised to know about him is that he enjoys studying American history. Especially the World Wars and the people know as “The Greatest Generation”. His favorite food show is Bizarre Foods.

Emma has loved working here at Bel Aire as her first job! she has loved getting to know the residents and being taught by the excellent staff! She has felt very loved and welcomed here.

Emma is currently attending American Fork High School. Where she is part of the Marching band, playing the bass clarinet. It keeps here busy and she loves it!

Whenever she is not working. She is at Marching band practice or competitions,  spending time with the family outdoors, or just hanging out with her friends.

One thing you would be surprised to know about her is... She is the oldest in her family. And she loves sea food!

Scott Valgardson

Scott is the new RN for Bel Aire Senior Living in American Fork. Scott has been an RN for 4 years now where he has worked in a variety of places. He started off working at Mountain View Hospital working in the ER, after sometime, he picked up some shifts in the ICU and worked between the two units.

Scott then started a home health job with Envision Home Health where he still works and enjoys taking care of the people in their homes. Scott grew up in Lindon and recently build a home in Eagle Mountain.

Whenever he is not working, he loves to play with his kids and on his off time he loves to play golf and basketball frequently. He also loves to go on dates with his wife, anywhere from golfing to a night out to eat and a movie. They have been married for 7 years and they have 2 beautiful kids.

William Steelle

Maintenance Coordinator

Bill has worked in Assisted Living since 2008 as Maintenance Director and Maintenance Coordinator. He feels very blessed to be able to use his skills to help maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the residents. He enjoys listening to the stories and life experiences that the residents share with him.

Bill has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry. He has been an Electrical and Building Contractor and has a degree in contractors’ law. He enjoys problem solving and keeping busy.

Whenever he is not working, he enjoys going to their cabin, fishing, hiking and 4 wheeling. They have a small mini-farm with chickens, rabbits, dogs and cats and a large garden area where they grow most of the fruits and vegetables they consume. Bill has been married for 26 years and he and his wife have 9 children and 5 grandchildren.

One thing you would be surprised to know about him is that he and his children enjoy playing guitar and writing music. Bill has also just finished a sci-fi/fantasy novel and is co-authoring a novel with his wife.

Andrea Lewis

Alzheimer's Activities Coordinator

Andrea has worked with seniors in long-term care and assisted living for the past ten years.  She specifically has worked in Dementia care and behavioral units. She enjoys working to provide sensory stimulation, memory recall, music, and physical activities, as well as outings and bus rides.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Leisure Services and Recreation from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington and a Therapeutic Recreation Technician Certification in May 2014.

Andrea enjoys working with people, encouraging positive outcomes and providing opportunities to success.  She looks forward to meeting the family members of our residents. She also enjoys having grandchildren recitals, singing and any other talents families would like to share with all our residents on the Memory Support hall.

Whenever she is not working you may find her making quilts and stuffed animals for her grandchildren, going on bike rides and hiking in the mountains with her dog Zeek.

One thing you may not know about Andrea is that she served an LDS mission in Hamburg, West Germany. She also went on an Alaskan Quilting Cruise and made a 3D quilt.

Marcela Valdivia

Assisted Living Activities Coordinator

Marcela loves scheduling and organizing activities for our residents. Marcela was born in Mexico City, but she was raised in sunny California. When she first moved to Utah, she volunteered at an assisted living home and it sparked a special interest in her.

She has been an Activities Director since 2006. She likes to be around happy people, interact with seniors and learn from the history and knowledge that the elderly share on a regular basis. She loves to organize memorable parties, quality entertainment, exciting outings and meaningful programs for the residents of Bel Aire Senior Living.

Whenever she is not working Marcela loves to dance, listen to oldies music & spend time with her family. She and her husband are the proud parents of three boys.

One thing you would be surprised to know about her is that Marcela received a Hero Award during 2014 UALA Conference.
